Camp Hill is a residential suburb located six kilometres southeast of Brisbane central business district, in the local government area of the City of Brisbane. Camp Hill is mostly a residential suburb but also features two shopping area. The suburb has a hilly terrain and roughly half of Whites Hill Reserve is located in Camp Hill. Camp Hill is situated between Seven Hills to the north and Holland Park to the south.
Following European settlement, Camp Hill was first known as Schick`s Hill after Peter Schick, who purchased land in 1859 and was one of the area`s first European settlers. Drovers and other travellers rested at a place called Four-mile Camp on the journey to Cleveland. This place, along with the area`s hilly terrain, gave the suburb its name Camp Hill, which was in use since the 1890s. Subdivision in the area began in 1887. Between 1912 and 1926, the Belmont Tramway serviced the suburb.
Camp Hill features two small shopping areas, one on Old Cleveland Road, and the other, Camp Hill Marketplace, on Samuel Street, near Whites Hill Reserve. Camp Hill features a number of green spaces within its folds, the largest of which is Whites Hills Reserve, which is partially located in the suburb`s south.
