Holland Park is a residential suburb located nine kilometres southeast of Brisbane`s central business district, in the local government area of the City of Brisbane. The suburb is mostly a residential one, featuring many post-WWII wooden homes, but also features a small retail area. Holland Park is also home to Queensland`s oldest crematorium. The suburb is situated adjacent to the expansive Whites Hill Reserve, between Coorparoo to the north and Mount Gravatt to the south.
The area that makes up Holland Park today was settled by European around 1865 and was initially used primarily for farming. The suburb is named after Julius Holland, one of the area`s first landowners. Holland Park began to be subdivided in 1884, like many Brisbane suburbs, during the land boom of the 1880s. Trams operated in the suburb along Logan Road until 1969.
The heritage-listed Mount Thompson Memorial Gardens & Crematorium is found in the suburb`s south, and is Queensland`s oldest crematorium. A small retail strip, including the Holland Park Hotel is situated on Logan Road, in the suburb`s west. Holland Park features a number of parks, and the expansive Whites Hill Reserve is found adjacent to the suburb`s northeastern border.
