Seven Hills is a residential and recreational suburb located eight kilometres east of Brisbane`s central business district, in the local government area of the City of Brisbane. The suburb`s western half is largely a built up residential area with some commercial retail areas, while its eastern pocket is entirely occupied by Seven Hills Bushland Reserve. There are seven hills in the suburb, as its name suggests. Seven Hills is situated between Morningside to the north and Norman Park to the south.
European settlement took place in the area in the late 19th century. The suburb is named after its seven hills, all of which are named after the Seven Hills of Rome: Palatine Hill, Capitoline Hill, Quirinal Hill, Aventine Hill, Caelian Hill, Viminal Hill and Esquiline Hill.
Seven Hills Bushland Reserve is found in the suburb`s east and features a well-maintained network of walking tracks. Palatine Hill and Capitoline Hill both feature small parks at their peaks bearing the hills` names. Ron Hurley Theatre is found nearby, in the centre of the suburb`s built-up residential area, next to Griffith Place Park.
