Stones Corner is a small residential and commercial suburb located five kilometres south of Brisbane`s central business district, in the local government area of the City of Brisbane. The suburb sits on the southern side of Norman Creek and features a retail and dining precinct in its western half. Stones Corner is situated between Woolloongabba to the north and Greenslopes to the south.
Following European settlement, the suburb was originally known as Burnett`s Swamp. The suburb is named after James Stone, a 19th century Ginger Beer producer and purveyor. The Stones Corner Hotel opened in 1888 and was originally named the Junction Hotel. In 1975, the suburb was absorbed into its neighbouring suburb of Greenslopes, but officially became its own suburb again in 2017.
Stones Corner`s retail and dining area is concentrated around Logan Road and Old Cleveland Road. Little Langlands Park, the East Leagues Club and Langlands Park Memorial Pool are situated in the suburb`s north, to the east of Norman Creek. Hanlon Park lies in Stones Corner`s west.
